  • Kenya appoints Honorary Consul in Antwerp 16/12/2010

Amb. Oyugi presents Letter of Commission to Mr. Bisschops

Mr. Daniel Bisschops has been appointed Kenya’s honorary consul in Antwerp.  Acting Political and Diplomatic Secretary, Ambassador Michael Oyugi, presented him with the Letter of Commission appointing him to the position on 5 November 2010. The presentation ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nairobi.

Mr. Bisschops is a reputable businessman with close business links in Kenya for over 20 years. In his congratulatory message, Ambassador Oyugi said that the appointment was part of a deliberate strategy by the government to expand its representation in strategic locations in the world to promote trade relations with Kenya. Last month, the Government also appointed an honorary consul in Serbia. The diplomatic secretary hailed Mr. Bisschops’s business credentials, which, he noted, makes him suitably disposed to advance Kenya’s economic interests in Antwerp.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Bisschops said it was a great honour to be selected to serve the Government of Kenya in such a prestigious capacity.  He promised to serve with dedication to help Kenya exploit the enormous economic opportunities in the city of Antwerp and in Belgium as a whole.
