  • Amb. Weru attends Bonn Climate Change Conference May 2017 19/05/2017

    On Wednesday May 17th 2017, Ambassador Johnson Weru participated in an ACP-AU side event on the margins of the Bonn Climate Change Conference. The side event held under the theme; Addressing Vulnerability in African Caribbean and Pacific countries  centered on a dialogue and exchange of ideas among vulnerable ACP island states, least developed countries (LDCs) and landlocked and coastal countries.
    Ambassador Weru, in his capacity as the Chair of the ACP Subcommittee on Sustainable Development, highlighted close cooperation with the EU to undertake climate action and tackle other environmental problems. He also noted that the ACP is developing a dedicated programme to support small island developing States (SIDS) address their unique vulnerabilities.
    The side event drew speakers from the African Union, the African group of negotiators, the Alliance of Small Island States, the European Union and Least Developed Countries.
