Memorial service for Prof. Philip Polk 28/05/2014

H.E. Amb. Johnson Weru attended the memorial service of the late Prof. Philip Polk at the family residence in Overijse, and had an opportunity to condole with the family and close friends.

Prof. Polk was a retired VUB professor of marine studies, who created linkages with numerous Kenyan institutions, incl. the Kenya Marine & Fisheries Research Institute (KEMFRI).

Amb. Weru presented the family with condolence messages from the Republic of Kenya and the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries Development, Professor Japheth Ntiba.  A number of those in attendance had lived or worked in Kenya at some point in their lives and made acquaintance with the late Professor.
