AU Deputy Erastus Mwencha pays Courtesy Call on Amb. Weru 05/07/2013
On Wednesday 3 July 2013, Mr. Erastus Mwencha, Africa Union Deputy Chairperson, paid a courtesy call on Amb. Johnson Weru in his office. Mr. Mwencha had come to Brussels to attend a series of meetings organised by the AU office in Brussels.
During the courtesy call, the two exchanged views on various issues. They touched base on the forthcoming AU-EPA (Economic Partnership Agreement) Africa Summit to take place in April 2014, and what should constitute the AU’s position during the Summit. The two also extensively discussed the state of play of EPAs, particularly from the perspective of the East African Community (EAC) Region.
Mr. Mwencha had come to Brussels primarily to attend a coordination Forum between all the EPA configurations in Africa at the ACP House. The Forum was intended to harmonise the position of the AU-EPA configurations position before a high level consultation with the European Union on moving the process forward.
