HELB Penalty Amnesty 16/05/2013

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) wishes to notify the public and all university loanees of a penalty amnesty which runs from 6 May to 6 June 2013, allowing the Board to waive all penalties for any individual loanee who will pay his or her outstanding loan in lump sum.

The HELB ACT 1995, Section (1) and (2), allows for a penalty of Kshs. 5,000 to be levied each month or part of the month that has remained unpaid since the maturity of the loan. The Board, therefore, calls on all loanees to take advantage of the amnesty.
