Courtesy call by the Ambassador of Uganda on 7 May 2013 13/05/2013
The Ambassador of Uganda to Belgium, H.E. Mrs. Mirjam Blaak Sow, paid a courtesy call to H.E. Ambassador Johnson Weru at the Kenyan Embassy on 7 May 2013. The courtesy call provided the opportunity for the two to formally meet and introduce themselves to each other, as they are both new in Brussels.
Her Excellency Mirjam Blaak Sow was warmly welcomed to the Embassy. At the meeting, the Ambassadors discussed a number of matters of mutual interest to both countries. Uganda, as the current Chair of the East African Community, called for continued commitment to the ongoing integration process as well as the promotion of trade in the region. In addition, the regional security situation, particularly the Somalia question, was discussed at length. They noted with concern the alarming situation in refugee camps Dadaab and Kakuma, both located in Northern Kenya, and called for international attention to the Somalia situation. Further, the Ambassadors exchanged views on the ongoing Kenyan cases at the International Criminal Court.
