  • Kenyan Ministers of State die in helicopter crash 12/06/2012

    The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Mission to the European Union informs Kenyans and friends of Kenya of the death of Hon. Prof. George Saitoti and Hon. Joshua Orwa Ojodeh, together with two pilots and two police officers, in a helicopter crash in Ngong Forest near Nairobi, Kenya, on Sunday 10 June 2012.

    Professor George Saitoti who, at the time of his death, was the Minister in the Ministry of State for Provincial Administration & Internal Security, also served as Kenya’s Vice President between 1989 and 1997, and again between 1999 and 2002. He has also served as minister in the Ministries of Finance and Education, and in an acting capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was the Member of Parliament for Kajiado North constituency.

    Hon. Joshua Orwa Ojodeh was, at the time of his death, the Assistant Minister in the Ministry of State for Provincial Administration & Internal Security. He was the Member of Parliament for Ndhiwa constituency.

    The Embassy wishes to inform that a book of condolence has been opened at the Chancery in honor of the departed, from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 June 2012, from 10.00 hrs to 13.00 hrs and 14.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs.
