Jacob T Kaimenyi was born on July 10, 1952.  He holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree (1978) and a Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontology (1982) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and Mangalore University, India respectively.  In 1998, he obtained a PhD in Periodontology from the University of Nairobi.  He is a retired Professor of Periodontology in University of Nairobi. 
Between 16th May, 2013 and 22nd November, 2015, he was the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Science and technology.  On 23rd November, 2015, he was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Land, Housing & Urban Development where he served until his appointment as Ambassador of Kenya to the Kingdom of Belgium, Grand Duchy of Luxemburg and Head of Mission to the European Union on 14th January, 2018.  
He has held other several senior positions such as Chairman, Meru Professionals Association; Member, Consortium for National Health Research; Member, Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, Vice-Chairman, Water Services Trust Fund; Chairman, Kenya Water Training Institute Governing Council; Chairman, Nkabune Technical Training Institute; Chairman, Board of Governors, Mulathankari Girls Secondary School; Chairman, Kenya Dental Association; Member, Board of Trustees, Meru College of Technology; President, East and Southern Africa Section of the International Association for Dental Research and President, Commonwealth Dental Association.  
On 12th December, 2010 he was awarded Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) by His Excellency, the President of Kenya.  Still in recognition of his service to the Nation, His Excellency the President of Kenya awarded him Elder of the Golden Heart on 12th December, 2015. On 31st March 2017, he became the Chief Scout of the Kenya Scouts Association.  In May 2017, he received a Distinguished Dentist award and a medal from Pierre Frauchard Academy for his outstanding contributions to the Art and Science of Dentistry.  In April 2008, was awarded a Diploma for the 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century.  He was entered into WHO’S WHO in the World, 2008 by MARQUIS WHO’S WHO Publications Board. He has over 60 publications to his credit.  He has contributed chapters to two dental textbooks.  He has authored a book titled ‘‘Busy Office Versus Responsible Fatherhood’’, published in Nairobi by Virtue Book Publishers.  
Prof. Kaimenyi has given over 27 invited lectures locally, regionally and internationally.  He has presented over 28 papers at conferences and other professional meetings.  He is married to Mrs. Stella Kaimenyi and they have five children.
Prof Kaimenyi is an individual with passion for promotion of learning and teaching, recognized track record of scholarship at local and international levels.  He possesses excellent skills in administration, communication and team approach to management.  He has capacity to motivate and influence others to achieve set goals.  A committed Catholic used to working under pressure and to meeting strict deadlines.
